BASIC TRAINING              STCW 2010 as Amended

 

 

The Basic Training (Pre-Sea) as a training course is a mandatory requirement for first time entrants to the sea going profession as per Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW).

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

17 Years and over

Certificate of Medical Fitness

Basic Literacy and Numeracy Skills

 

As required by the STCW 2010 Convention the course comprises of:

 

• Personal Survival Techniques

• Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

• Elementary First Aid

• Personal Safety and Social Responsibiliteis

 

** + 2 additional modules to enhance the seafarer and make him more marketable.  

 

Upon completion of this course, candidates will receive a certificate of Participation and will be eligible to apply for the Discharge book from Maritime Services Division (MSD)
