OFFICER IN CHARGE OF A NAVIGATIONAL WATCH ON SHIPS OF LESS THAN 500 GT

ENGAGED IN NEAR COASTAL VOYAGES (OICNW <500 GT NCV )

 

This is a structured training program that is in keeping with international standards and caters to the need of officers responsible for navigation of ships engaged in Near Coastal Trade.

 

The course is approved by the Maritime Authority of Jamaica (MAJ) and is in accordance with Table A-II/3 of the STCW Code 95 as amended.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS·

  • 18 years and over·

  • Completed Basic Safety Training—(Pre-Sea) STCW 95 as amended ·

  • Thirty-six (36) months of sea service on vessels in Near Coastal or unlimited trade

 

The following short courses must also be completed to receive certification as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational  Watch:·   *  Medical First Aid (Table A-VI/4-1)·

  *  Advanced Fire Fighting (Table A-VI/3)·

  *  Global Maritime Distress Safety Systems—GMDSS (Table A-IV/2)

 

CERTIFICATION / AWARD

Successful candidates will be issued a Certificate of Training and be eligible to sit the statutory examination conducted by

The Maritime Authority of Jamaica (MAJ)
